Pictures from the New York Gurls Talk Event

Below are pictures from Gurls Talk's second event at Industry City, in Brooklyn. It was hosted in partnership with COACH and supported by Teen Vogue. Over 700 "girls" attended an action-packed day of talks, workshops and pop-ups.

Gurls Talk founder and model-activist Adwoa Aboah kick-started the event with a discussion on the importance of community and finding your "tribe". Speakers included fellow activists Mariah Idrissi and Mari Malek, Professor Green and Adwoa on mental health, and actor/author/activist iO Tillett Wright. Adwoa opened a poetry slam hosted by Crystal Valentine where gurls shared their experiences of assault, sexuality, and growing up in a cult.

Alongside panels on race, mental health, and sexuality, there was a chanting class; led by Dara Hartman, a sexual health workshop from Fifth Vital Sign, an embroidery station from The Stonework, a voter registration booth; hosted by Hello Voter, a Cheer Up Luv photo booth and much more.

Other attendees of the festival included Alaia Baldwin, Dilone, and Imaan Hammam.
