My Deconstructed & Reworked Sweater Coat

I had not worn this Jones New York sweater coat in years. In the past, I followed the wardrobe-building rules and acquired a collection of the basic pieces, then added a few items that were more aligned with my true style.

I rarely wear basic, staple pieces these days ... I've reworked most of my wardrobe to truly reflect my taste. Here's what I did to rework this sweater coat and up the reach factor.
    1. Cut it on a diagonal.
    2. Used the cut pieces as a side insert and a one-shoulder detail.
    3. Shortened the pocket on the higher side.
    4. Manipulated the fabric via the new hem to add movement to the drape.
    5. Opened the lower portion of the sleeves for more drama.
I am very pleased with the results. I plan to wear this often.
