Unusual Hidden Gems

New York: Chez Josephine - This tribute to Josephine Baker offers fine dining, live music and a theatrical decor that's a nod to the 1930's Jazz era in Paris. Naturally, this genius creation of Josephine's son; Jean-Claude Baker, is located right on 42nd Street.

Paris: Joe Allen's - This was my haven on those rare occasions when I craved a "real cheeseburger" or barbeque during my semester in France.

Philadelphia: The Rose Tattoo - The exterior is very unassuming... My first impression was a biker bar. However, the interior surprised and won my heart ... The decor is stunningly beautiful. The wrought-iron details, terraced balconies and greenery remind me of dining in New Orleans as well as a particular antique shop/cafe that I stumbled upon one Saturday afternoon while browsing the enormous flea market of Marché aux Puces, in Paris.
