Fashion, Arts & Entertainment FYI

There is always something happening. Here are a few things to check out...

  • “Thunder” is released on Monday 9th December and follows Jessie’s impressive re-entry into the UK charts, with “WILD” and “Its My Party” successfully rooting her back in the UK Top 5, selling an impressive 300,000 copies of both singles in the UK alone. Jessie J performs to a sold out London O2 Arena tonight and tomorrow night.

  • FatBoySlim will start his 8-date club tour this December to coincide with the release of his new single ‘Eat Sleep Rave Repeat’ with Riva Starr on 27th October via Skint Records.

  • The Lab is Mixmag's weekly office rave up / live stream direct from Mixmag HQ. However, for the next fortnight they will be moving The Lab to the Samsung GALAXY Shoreditch Studio – a pop up record shop in the heart of East London where Defected Records are showcasing their DJs, latest tracks and back catalogue.

Fashion Books I'm Reading Now

  • Author Elizabeth L. Cline's book, Overdressed: The Shockingly High Cost of Cheap Fashion. It's a raw, unfiltered look at the decline in the tradition of the making of quality clothing as well as the popularity of disposable, cheap clothing.
Cline has written for well-known media including Daily Beast, New York Magazine, The New Republic and The Village Voice.
  • In My Shoes, by Tamara Mellon. It's full of glamour, drama and inspiration. I also love the photos of the Jimmy Choo co-founder with many a celeb (There's even a picture of her with the Queen.).

If you plan to be in New York for Halloween, you might want to check out the Meetup Group, The Set NYC's Masquerade Art Gala with a Midnight Fashion Show.

The event is a benefit for Freedomladder.com: Stopping child sex slave trafficking. The costume fashion show is by the Vogue/Inside New York-featured designer Yesterdaynight.

There will be free gifts and beauty masks from Grand Central Beauty and Elucid Fashion Magazine. For more info, go to: The Set NYC.
