Manolo Blahnik to Receive Outstanding Achievement Award

Manolo Blahnik will receive the Outstanding Achievement Award at this year's British Fashion Awards. This award is given in recognition of a designer's impact on the global fashion industry.

Blahnik started his career 40 years ago. Diana Vreeland, then editor-in-chief of American Vogue, saw sketches of his theatre designs, honed in on his shoes and encouraged him to concentrate on them.

The list of awards Manolo Blahnik has received is numerous, including:
  • Awards from the CFDA in 1987, 1990 and 1998
  • Awards from the British Fashion Council in 1990, 1999 and 2003
  • An Honorary Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) Award (2007)
  • The Rodeo Drive Walk of Style Award (2008)
  • The Footwear News Lifetime Achievement Award (2011)
  • La Aguja de Oro (2001) and La Medalla de Oro en Merito en las Bellas Artes, awarded by His Majesty Don Juan Carlos I, King of Spain

The British Fashion Awards will take place on Tuesday 27th November at the Savoy Theatre.
