Designer Profile: Marijoli

Marijoli was one of the emerging designers participating in the Nolcha Fashion Week: New York Accessories Exhibition ... The label's unique display pieces were sold out by mid-week.

The high-end hand-made jewelry is quite eye-catching.  The hand-crafted shapes are exquisitely abstract.  And it's not restricted to jewelry ... There is also a collection of shoes and tassels for bags, mobile phones, etc.

Word of Marijoli is getting around.  Both Madonna and Miss Universe 2007, Riyo Mori both have Marijoli pieces.  The brand also has attracted the attention of Margo Stilley, Kate Moss, China Forbes.

The designs are the brain child of Marielle Byworth.  Marielle has a degree in Industrial Design from Ecal, Switzerland's school of art and design, in Lausanne.

She told me her latest collection was primarily inspired by when lava meets water before it solidifies.  Just look at the striking cuff bracelet and the first picture of earrings to see this influence.

Marielle also explained that chandeliers influenced the design of the beautiful, one-of-a-kind drop earrings.

She has worked alongside some of the most renowned artists in Europe; including Matali Crasset, Ronan Bouroullec, Radi Designers, and Sebastian Bergne.  She has also collaborated with LVMH and the Y&R agency. In addition, she's been featured in several European and Asian magazines.

The jewelry and accessories are sold at exclusive boutiques in the US, London & Tokyo, but you can now shop online as well.
