I had not worn this Jones New York sweater coat in years. In the past, I followed the wardrobe-building rules and acquired a collection of the basic pieces, then added a few items that were more aligned with my true style.
I rarely wear basic, staple pieces these days ... I've reworked most of my wardrobe to truly reflect my taste. Here's what I did to rework this sweater coat and up the reach factor.
- Cut it on a diagonal.
- Used the cut pieces as a side insert and a one-shoulder detail.
- Shortened the pocket on the higher side.
- Manipulated the fabric via the new hem to add movement to the drape.
- Opened the lower portion of the sleeves for more drama.
