A New Look for My Two-Tone Signet Ring

I hadn't worn my silver & gold signet ring in over three years. I was not surprised to see the light tarnish when I pulled it out. I actually liked it and wanted to darken it more to make the gold center pop ... That's how this minor rework project started.

I went through several smelly rounds of treatment using liver of sulfur. This stuff truly stinks ... Imagine smelling a dozen, month-old rotten eggs. The instructions did include a warning about the smell and the need to do the treatment in a well-ventilated area. It was a test of my determination ... Like a payment of penance for some small sin.

I suffered through because I had a vision. I guess that the beautiful results made it all worth the effort. The multiple treatments yielded a deep, almost black, gunmetal color that's a striking contrast to the gold center. I'm just not sure I would do it again. ;-)
