Altered: Little Tweaks - Added Glam

Sometimes it's the little things that count. Here are my latest projects where I made little tweaks that were minor, but just enough to up the glam factor.

Faux Fur Collar Upgrades

I: Shearling
I decided to add a little style to my traditional, caramel-colored shearling jacket. I started by adding tucks to better define the waistline, then added the faux fur collar shown for instant glam.

The next step: To rework the hem and closure to add my own flavor.

*** See the two new revisions to my altered style projects below ***

Update 1: There are times when I do a revision of an update ... When I think I can add a little more stylish flair. This is one of those times ... I upgraded the collar and cuffs with this striking faux fur.

II: Leather
My old black leather jacket is still my favorite. I often reach for it, bypassing my newer leather jackets. It has a great drape and soft, supple leather that only got better with age ... Including it in my annual bag cleaning/conditioning ritual definitely helped.

I decided to give this jacket a glam update as well. I put my rarely-worn Kenneth Cole faux fur scarf to use by separating the fur from the scarf. I then sewed the fur onto the collar of the jacket.

Watch Update

I found this funky Steinhausen watch on Gilt. I love that it's the automatic winding style ... I never have to worry about replacing batteries. However, I wanted to switch the band to metal as I tend to be hard on the leather watch bands. I decided to mix up the look with a black and rose gold version.

What's next? I will add a little funky edge by pairing the watch with the bike chain bracelet below ... I plan to replace the bracelet's lobster claw closure with the toggle closure shown.

Update 2: I also decided that the bracelet was nice but a little too casual. I decided to upgrade the look with another fab find ... the rose gold bangle bracelet below.
