Fashion & Beauty News: The Quick Recap

This week already has been quite busy with industry news. Here's a quick review of the hot updates:
  • Tyra Banks' New Cosmetic Line - This is a nice, smart expansion of the Tyra dynasty. The product range (12 products) is somewhat limited in color choices. I must admit that I was disappointed by this fact, however I do hope to see this line grow.
  • John Galliano Joins Maison Martin Margiela - I have loved this label's experimentally creative style. I find the pieces to be bold but designed in a way that still allows the owner to add their personality in how the garment is worn ... I have worn several favorite pieces repeatedly until they actually started falling apart. I am looking forward to seeing what develops at the A/W shows.
  • Coty Bids for Chanel's Bourjois Cosmetics Line - The offer includes 15 million shares of Coty, valued at $239.1 million. I was already familiar with the name, but this offer has definitely motivated me to take a closer look at the Bourjois brand.
  • The BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund is Accepting Applications -The Fund provides one British-based designer with £200,000 and access to high level mentoring support. Visit BFC for more info and to submit an application. The application deadline is October 20th.
