Fashion & My Job Helped Me Lose Weight

I went down a dress size in two months. I believe the two factors that influenced this weight loss are my love of fashion and that I had started a new job a few months ago. Why?

Fashion as a Motivator
I am very comfortable with the fact that I am a woman with curves. I have broad shoulders and hips... and my "girls" are proportionate with my curves. Accepting and truly liking myself includes the confidence of knowing that I give it my best to be the best me possible ... investing (within reason) in my inner and outer self.

Part of this self-awareness is knowing that I needed to lose a few pounds to feel healthier. Plus there were a few pieces in my closet that I was reluctant to wear because they fit, but did not flatter with the extra pounds ... If it doesn't flatter, what's the point in wearing it?

I always felt that fashion could be my motivation to lose weight ... The idea of wearing more beautiful clothes (some were right in my closet) appealed to me greatly. Look at some of my favorites styles. Wouldn't they motivate you?

My Job as a Motivator
In addition to my blogging about fashion and lifestyle, I work in SEO Analytics. Is my job my ultimate fantasy job? Honestly, no it is not. What I do love about it is that, in addition to developing website, social media and search performance reports for clients, I also get to identify and focus on strategic opportunities for the clients as well as my company. I am challenged to think outside of the box (a specialty of mine) and stretch myself. This is very exciting to me.

As a result, I focus less on eating and shopping. While I still indulge in some treats (on both fronts) the temptation is less compelling to indulge simply for the sake of indulging.

I have also made a conscious effort to reach for healthier snacks like fruits, nuts, granola bars, etc. ... So I don't feel guilty when I reach for a taco. In addition, I have committed to run errands and take walks during lunch (I work in a beautiful section of the city.) and do stomach clenches whenever I can. It seems to be working.
