The train division, The Venice-Simplon
Orient-Express, uses the original carriages from the historic Orient Express. The collection's founder, James Sherwood, purchased 35 of the original sleeper, restaurant and Pullman carriages (from the 1920s and '30s) at an auction.
The hotels and restaurants can be found in 25 countries. The lush, opulent locations include New York, Mexico, Scotland, Bali, California, Cape Town, Venice, Madrid, the Amalfi Coast, Thailand, St Petersberg, France and England. We're talking great food, spa services and beautiful views.
The list of famous hotels the group owns includes Venice's Hotel Cipriani, The Ritz in Madrid, St Petersburg's Grand Hotel Europe and Rio's Copacabana Palace.
Any one of these exotic sites would be a perfect treat for Mother's Day, a wedding/honeymoon or birthday, or a "just because" vacation retreat. Go to the Orient-Express for more info.
