DD Push is now offering Flash "Deal of the Week" Events. These events will feature one overstock style that was previously on sale at DD Push, but with a deeper discount than the original sale ... think final sale.
Their first hot Deal is:
Dior Patchwork Ski Jacket
It's around 80% off retail; regularly priced at $1650, but has been reduced to $349.
I was recently on a serious necklace binge. The typical necklace on a simple chain is nice, but I prefer the unusual, chunkier versions.
I wanted to find unique, standouts by the lesser-known, "under the radar" designers.
Here are my latest finds:
1. This week's Battle item from ken & dana design (I just did a profile on their work). A very cute simple, yet edgy multi-strand gunmetal necklace with small brass rivets. Plus it's at the amazing price of $35.00, only during the "Battle".
My other three finds were courtesy of Etsy. Did I say I went on a binge? Here's the first of my Etsy fixes. The buttons necklace redone. This cutie arrived just yesterday from seller LandAndLaboratory, and I immediately put it on. The different button textures in black, gray and silver add a funky yet elegant touch to any crew neck sweater or tee. I loved it so much I order another one in different color. Oh! I almost forgot to include the wonderful price; only $15. Here is the necklace that started it all. It was so different and striking, I literally said "ooooh" when I saw it. I imagined wearing it with my Marc Jacobs black cotton shirt-tunic that hangs off the shoulder, fine sweaters, tees, sweater and jersey dresses.
It's a long cascade, an 11” hand-dyed leather chainette fringe of black to grey shades over nude. It includes a black leather strap neck closure, with an additional brass chain for adjusting. All for just $36 from Three Horses. Lastly, I bought the elegant, vintage-looking Double Melanie tie-back necklace. It's a total of 40", the shorter chain will fall about 2" from the neckline while the longer chain will fall about 3". It contains olivine faceted glass rounds and a jasper coin. The chain is gold-plated brass. The adjustable cotton, brown tie-back is a soft twill tape/ribbon.
Both members of this designing duo come from creative backgrounds, and naturally gravitated towards a career encompassing their own brand of creative expression.
From an early age, Ken was exposed to lapis and other beautiful stones (his parents' business), which remained one of the constants in a childhood where Hong Kong, San Francisco and Florida were called home. With artists and educators as parents, Dana's early years were as filled with stained glass and candle making as they were with berry picking and ski slopes.
Ken and Dana met at Lehigh University. Both ended up working in finance, on Wall Street. In 2003, they decided to pursue their innate creativity, and joined Ken's parents' company while trying to figure out their path.
The duo met designer Doori Chung in 2004, and the three collaborated on Doori's Spring 2005 show. The collaboration motivated Ken and Dana to open a studio workshop and start their two lines of handmade jewelry; b-side and BYLU.
The label b-side is an avante-garde creative expression that mixes abstract shapes and unusual materials. The b-side includes the graffiti, rights and geometry series
BYLU is a more romantic interpretation, with several distinct series; isis, gaudi, compass rose and bridal.
Their designs are striking, unusual, clearly for those who like to be different, appreciates artistry and doesn't just follow the typical dictates of the fashion trends herd.
They are getting quite a lot of press too.
PLUS, Ken and Dana offer you the chance to participate in their weekly "Battle". Inspired by NYC "Art Battles", they design a new work and feature it for a special price (always under $150) for one week. The current battle piece (the mixed metal circle necklace) was worn by models at the Geren Ford Spring 2010 runway show at NY Fashion Week. I'm looking forward to taking advantage of this opportunity ... already reworking my budget.
